Instal Zabbix configuration package Ubuntu<br \/>\n<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>First step for you is to install the Zabbix repository configuration package for Ubuntu 14.04 that contains the apt configuration files. Enter a password of your choosing, but make it to be a strong one (combination of letters and numbers and minimum 8 characters long).<\/p>\n<p>Once you enter the password, press Enter. Confirm the password in the next window and press Enter again.<\/p>\n<p>The Zabbix installation will proceed and finish.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5-Modify-PHP-Settings\"><\/span>5. Modify\u00a0PHP Settings<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>However, nothing is finished yet. We need to modify some PHP settings so the web installation of Zabbix can be completed. Edit your server php.ini file:<\/p>\n<pre># vim \/etc\/php5\/apache2\/php.ini<\/pre>\n<p>Locate the following lines and adjust the values as the ones below:<\/p>\n<pre>post_max_size = 16M\r\nmax_execution_time = 300\r\nmax_input_time = 300\r\ndate.timezone = \"your timezone\"<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6-Restart-Apache-Web-Server\"><\/span>6. Restart Apache Web Server<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Save and close the file. Restart Apache so the changes can take effect:<\/p>\n<pre># \/etc\/init.d\/apache2 restart<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7-configure-Apache-Web-Server\"><\/span>7. configure Apache Web Server<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Now, you need to copy the example Apache config to the \/etc\/apache2\/conf-available\/ directory so Apache and Zabbix can work together:<\/p>\n<pre># cp \/etc\/zabbix\/apache.conf \/etc\/apache2\/conf-available\/zabbix.conf<\/pre>\n<p>Enable the config:<\/p>\n<pre># a2enconf zabbix.conf<\/pre>\n<p>Make sure that the alias mod is enabled:<\/p>\n<pre># a2enmod alias<\/pre>\n<p>Restart Apache:<\/p>\n<pre># \/etc\/init.d\/apache2 restart<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"8-Start-Zabbix\"><\/span>8. Start Zabbix<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Start the Zabbix server:<\/p>\n<pre># service zabbix-server start<\/pre>\n<p>Now, open your favorite web browser and navigate to http:\/\/your_server_IP\/zabbix to complete the Zabbix installation.<\/p>\n<p>You will be welcomed by the installation page<\/p>\n<p>Click on next. If everything is OK, click Next.<\/p>\n<p>Configure your database connection and enter the database credentials so you can test the database connection. The username and database name is zabbix, the password is the one you entered previosly during the command line installation of Zabbix. Test the database connection and if everything is OK click on Next. Once you finish the installation you will get the login page.<\/p>\n<p>The default username and password for the Zabbix Dashboard are:<\/p>\n<pre>username: admin\r\n\r\npassword: zabbix<\/pre>\n<p>Once you log in, change the password immediately.<\/p>\n<p>That is it. You have successfully installed Zabbix on your server.
